How can technology be used by students to be active members in thier personal communities?

Rationale: Students today are often detached from thier communities. The only real community they experience is at school. When they enter the real world, they should be able to interact with others politically, socially, economically, and culturally in an effective manner. Schools often to not prepare students for interaction in the real world; rather they just provide students with the information they need to pass tests so that getting a job or into college are attainable aspirations. They are then on thier own; therefore, as adults they allow others to become community leaders while they sit back and watch from the shadows. I want my students to learn how to become interactive community leaders so that they too can make a difference.

How can technology be used to aid in the development of writing in the elementary classroom?

Justification: I have always enjoyed writing, however I find that it is one of the most common subjects that elementary students struggle with. Teachers are so concerned with math and reading that writing sometimes falls to the wayside. I want to understand how I can utilize technology to help students better their writing skills and enhance their learning, rather than use it for more obvious uses such as math games.

How can we use cell phones to enrich our students' learning?

Justification: This question is important to consider given the number of students that own and operate cell phones. Many teachers are terrified at the thought of incorporating them into the classroom, which is why I want to find positive and productive ways to apply the use of cell phones into my future classroom. I feel as if there are a lot of possibilities, we just need to learn more about how to properly incorporate them.
